Men's Tennis Falls to Nationally-Ranked USC Aiken

AIKEN, SC – The #13 USC Aiken men’s tennis team (5-1) defeated Pfeiffer (4-2) by a final score of 7-2 on a cloudy and cool Saturday afternoon. The Pacers, who are ranked fourth in the region, extended their winning streak to three games.
Stephen Miller recorded the Falcons lone win in singles competition, rallying to defeat Patrick Stiebinger in three sets. Miller dropped the opener 6-1 but regrouped to win the second set 7-5 and outlasted Stiebinger in the third by a final score of 11-9 in what was the best matchup of the afternoon. Loic Minery suffered his first loss of the season as Ettore Damiani won in first singles by scores of 7-6 and 6-4.
Minery, and teammate Sebastian Wernecke, would rebound in first doubles competition to garner Pfeiffer’s second win of the day. The duo defeated Stiebinger and Alejandro Andino by the score of 8-4. Aiken swept second and third doubles, winning 8-3 and 8-5.
Pfeiffer has a chance to rebound quickly as they host Guilford at the Knapp Tennis Center tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
