Box Score

MISENHEIMER, NC – In a rain-shortened contest, the Pfeiffer men’s tennis team (8-3, 1-2 CC) dropped its first home match of the season by a final score of 5-2 against King (7-7, 4-2) on Wednesday afternoon.  The match was played to five due to a late start because of weather.

King stormed out in front during doubles competition, claiming first and second doubles. The team of Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato was just the second team this season to top Pfeiffer’s duo of Loic Minery and Sebastian Wernecke, who fall to 8-2 on the season. In second doubles, Stephen Miller and Bret Williams fell 8-5 to Pablo Vidal and Luis Delgado. Pfeiffer’s team of Axel Woerner and Orlando Castillo claimed an 8-4 win in third singles, sending the match into singles play.

Minery improved to 10-1 in first singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Vidal. However, King rallied to grab wins in second, third and fifth singles to grab the overall victory.

The loss is Pfeiffer's first home loss of the season, dropping the Falcons to 6-1 at the Knapp Tennis Center.

Pfeiffer looks to get back on track on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Barton for a 2 p.m. match.
