Baseball Can't Cool Lenoir-Rhyne's Hot Bats

HICKORY, N.C. – The Pfeiffer baseball team stumbled in their final regular season game, falling to Lenoir-Rhyne by a score of 11-2. With the loss, the Falcons conclude the season with a record of 26-21; meanwhile the Bears improve to 19-28.
Lenoir-Rhyne jumped out to an early lead that they would not relinquish. In the bottom of the first inning, the host Bears pounded out four runs on five hits as they claimed the advantage. Lenoir-Rhyne tacked on one more run in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI groundout by Brandon Walker.
Pfeiffer did not join the hit column until the fourth inning when Matt Wade broke up the no-hitter with a single that was sent right back where it came from.
The Falcons were held to just one hit until the seventh inning when they were able to muster two in the inning, though they were still held scoreless.
Keith Little picked up the loss, pitching three innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits. With the loss, Little falls to 4-4 to finish the season.
Pfeiffer posted seven hits in the game, all from seven different players. Allende had a pinch-hit RBI going 1-for-1, while Hackney contributed the other run going 1-for-3.
The Falcons will return to action in the Conference Carolinas Tournament. Pfeiffer finished third in the conference so they will take on the No. 4 seed on Thursday, April 25. No set time has been announced for the Falcons’ first game.
