PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 27, 2014) – As numerous alumni, family and friends of Rutgers men’s soccer gathered for the alumni game on Saturday, the program recognized former head coach Bob Reasso for his success “On The Banks”.
“Before I even came here as the head coach, I knew about Rutgers soccer and all the great players that have come through the doors here. That’s a testament to what Coach Reasso has done over the many, many years he was here,” said head coach Dan Donigan.
Reasso spent 29 seasons as head coach at Rutgers and finished his career with an overall record of 351-183-71. During his tenure he led RU to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, three Final Fours and six league titles and coached 15 All Americans.
“Rutgers soccer is well known across the country as one of the nation’s best, elite men’s soccer programs and we’re here to try to continue that tradition for you (alumni),” added Donigan. “We want to make you proud to keep the quality on and off the field for you guys, because you have laid the foundation.”
The Rutgers men’s soccer team begins its first season in the Big Ten this fall. While the full schedule will be announced at a future date, it will include conference contests with national runner-up Maryland, Big Ten Tournament champions Indiana, as well as NCAA Tournament participants Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern and Penn State.
