INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The NCAA Hall of Champions in Indianapolis, IN is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Divisions II and III with a special exhibit. The exhibit currently features a prominent display of Pfeiffer’s 1981 National Champion Field Hockey team.
The 1981 Falcons were the first Division II Field Hockey Champions and won the title on the first day that the NCAA awarded National Championship status to female teams. Pfeiffer went 9-4 in 1981 and hosted the National Semifinal and National Championship games in Misenheimer. The Falcons defeated Chico St. 1-0 in overtime on Nov. 14 to advance to the title game against Bentley on Nov. 21. Pfeiffer was led by Carol Whitehouse who scored the first four goals of the game for Pfeiffer as they went on to secure the Championship with a 5-3 victory.
On display at the Hall of Champions is the Number 10 jersey that was worn during the 1981 season by Jean Whitehouse, Carol’s sister. Also featured is the 1981 Media Guide and Tournament program.
The display will remain prominent through Labor Day.
