Falcons Win Third In A Row

Misenheimer,NC---Pfeiffer defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian 94-78 in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Thursday night. Pfeiffer improves to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. St. Andrews is now 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference. The game started slowly and was tied at 6 after Robert McGriff hit a lay-up with nearly five minutes gone. Five straight points by McGriff gave the Falcons a 15-8 advantage. The Falcons stretched their lead to 22-10 with 9:20 to go until halftime. Pfeiffer took a fourteen point lead at 27-13 with 7 minutes remaining. The Falcons kept their lead at about ten points the rest of the half and went into the break up 40-31. McGriff scored the first five points of the second half as Pfeiffer started with an 11-0 run to take a 51-31 lead. St. Andrews responded with a 14-0 run to get back in the game. Pfeiffer held a 53-51 lead with 11 minutes to go. A Mike Davidson three-pointer gave the Falcons a 61-54 lead with 8:45 to go. Five straight points by Clyde Chapman gave Pfeiffer a 67-58 advanage with 7:03 left. Thomas Carr hit a "3" with 4:11 left to give Pfiffer a 79-68 lead. The Falcons hit their free throws down the stretch and won 94-78. Five Falcons hit double figures in points led by McGriff's 25. Chris Woods led Pfeiffer with 7 rebounds. Colby Poe led St. Andrews with 19 points. Pfeiffer will host Queens this Saturday at 7:30 pm.
