| ANDERSON, S.C. -- Allison Braswell pitched a two-hit shutout in the second game to lead Pfeiffer to a 5-0 victory and a sweep of Anderson University in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Smethers Field. In the first game, Dacia Ijames scattered seven hits and drove in three runs to lead the Falcons to a 7-3 victory. The sweep improves Pfeiffer to 22-19 overall and 8-8 in the conference. Anderson now stands at 18-16, 9-7. In the first game, Pfeiffer scored single runs in the third inning, fourth inning, and fifth inning then hit Anderson with a three spot in the sixth. Ijames was 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the fifth and a two-run single in the sixth. Martina Bullard was 4-for-4 for the Falcons with a solo home run in the third and a run-scoring single in the sixth. Ijames pitched a complete game for the Falcons. She struck out four, walked just one, and stranded seven. Pfeiffer had 11 hits in the first game, while Anderson managed seven. The second game was all Braswell as she turned in a dominating performance. She struck out seven and did not issue a walk. Anderson did not have a runner reach second base. Pfeiffer scored three runs in the second on an RBI double by Megan McNeil and run-scoring singles by Stephanie Bethea and Jaimee Cassidy. The Falcons added two more runs in the third on a run-scoring double by Stephanie Brandt and an RBI single by Bullard. Pfeiffer finished the second game with 12 hits. McNeil was 3-for-4 in the second game for the Falcons. Pfeiffer hosts Carson-Newman on Wednesday in a double-header starting at 2:00 pm. |
