MARTINEZ COMMITS TO FALCONS

Misenheimer, NC -- Pfeiffer University head basketball coach Dave Davis announces the signing of 6'5" Jermaine Martinez of High Point Christian Academy. Martinez averaged 18 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, was a two time All Conference selection and also made the Greensboro News and Record All-Area Team. A true student athlete, Jermaine carries a 3.9 GPA and is a member of the National High School Scholars.

"Jermaine looks like a linebacker and we will try to get him to play like one," said Davis. "He is a terrific young man from a great family. He has his priorities in order and has a chance to be an immediate impact guy. He had Division I and Division II offers and we feel very fortunate to have him join our basketball family. He is currently about 210 lbs and does not have an once of fat on him. He has been as big as 245 pounds, but has slimmed down to help his speed and quickness, which will serve him well at Pfeiffer."

Martinez joins All-State player James Morse from Maine and 6'9" Antonio Kalpic from Croatia by way of High Point Wesleyan in the Pfeiffer 2009-2010 recruiting class.
