Findlay, OH - Pfeiffer’s Charlene Reid tied for second at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship on Saturday, the best season finish by a Pfeiffer women’s golfer ever. She also took home an honorable mention nod for the National Golf Coaches Association All-American team and was named to the South All-Region team.
The University of Findlay-hosted event began on Wednesday with the first round of the 72-hole competition. Rounds two and three were both played on Friday after Thursday’s second stanza was delayed due to inclement weather and then the competition wrapped up on Saturday.
Reid, a senior from Ballymoney, Ireland, finished day one of the tournament tied in first place after shooting two under par. On Friday she carded an 80 and a 77 for the second and third rounds to put her tied for third. Reid finished the tournament 12 strokes over par after shooting a 73 in the final round (70-80-77-73=300).
Finishing with title honors was Lyndsay McBride of the University of Indianapolis at ten over par (74-75-72-77=298). Tying Reid for second was Sandra Changkija of Nova Southeastern University two strokes behind McBride (76-74-75-75=300). Nova Southeastern University took the top team honors, while Grand Valley State finished 15 strokes behind for second. Rollins College and the University of Indianapolis tied for third 18 strokes behind the leader.
