FOUR PLAYERS NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE
High Point, NC Four Pfeiffer University softball players were named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference teams. Shelby Fleming (1B), Ranzy York (OF), Martina Bullard (Utility), and Allison Braswell (P) were all selected for the second team. Pfeiffer is currently 25-15 overall (12-6 conf.) on the season and finished third in regular season standings in the league. Pfeiffer plays its first game of the double-elimination conference tournament on Friday at 4:00 PM.
Shelby Fleming, a senior from Roseville, CA, tallied 18 hits on 55 at bats for a batting average of .327 and a slug percentage of .455. She played in all 18 of Pfeiffers league games. Fleming had 11 RBI and six runs with two doubles and one home run. In the field, Fleming had 118 putouts with five assists. She committed only one error on the season and had a .992 fielding percentage. Fleming was Conference Carolinas softball Player of the Week for week two.
Ranzy York, a junior from Milton-Freewater, OR, marked 17 hits on 53 at bats for an average of .321 and a slug percentage of .660. She played in all 18 of Pfeiffers league games. York had four doubles, one triple, and four homeruns. She marked 10 RBI and 11 runs, while stealing two bases on three attempts. In the field, York earned a .97 fielding percentage on 16 putouts and only one error.
Martina Bullard, a senior from Godwin, NC had 17 hits on 60 at bats to mark a .283 batting average. Bullard played in all 18 of Pfeiffers league games. Bullard collected nine RBI and 12 runs this season. She had four doubles and a slug percentage of .350. Bullard stole one base. In the field, she tallied 18 putouts and one assist with zero errors for a .100 fielding percentage.
Allison Braswell, a sophomore from Asheboro, NC, pitched in 11 games for Pfeiffer and started in 9. She pitched 57.1 innings and gave up 22 runs, 18 of which were earned for an ERA of 2.21. She walked six batters and struck out 40. Braswell was 5-3 against conference foes (.600) and marked one save.
The Conference Carolinas All-Conference teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating league institutions. Nominations are collected and then voted upon by ballot and tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and All-Conference Second Team.
