SWIMMING EARNS SPLIT AT VMI: WOMEN SHATTER TWO MORE SCHOOL RECORDS

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University picked up a split decision in swimming action on Saturday afternoon at VMI. The women scored a 111-80 win breaking two more school records while the men dropped a 157-118 decision in Lexington, Virginia. Both teams stand at 1-1 through the first two meets.

The Lady Falcons broke two more school records on Saturday, one coming in the first event of the day, the 400 medley relay. Yukina Onoda, Haley Carter, Julianna Prim and Samantha Maness, all four freshmen, clocked in with a time of 4:10.58, shattering the 14-year old record by seven seconds. Two events later in the 200 free, Prim dismantled a 17-year old record by seven seconds finishing with a time of 1:53.64. Pfeiffer won 11 of the 13 events in the meet.

George Moreno led the men’s swim team with three individual and one relay first place finishes. Moreno took the top spot in the 50 free, 100 free and 50 fly. Moreno teamed up with David Angell, Kevin Parks and Mark Franz for a win in the 400 medley relay.

Both the men and women’s swim teams get back to action on Halloween at the Boo Bash Relays. Catawba will host the festivities on Saturday in Salisbury beginning at 10:00 a.m.
