CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte shot 54.7% from the field in a 79-54 home win over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action on Saturday night. Queens also picked up 39 rebounds along with 24 points off of Lady Falcon turnovers moving to 6-6 on the year, 5-2 in league play. Pfeiffer dips their record to 5-7, 5-2.
For the second-straight game, the Lady Falcons played the majority of the contest from behind. The Royals dominated the boards, particularly on the offensive side of the court, draining 47% of their shots in the first half, 39% for Pfeiffer, running out to a 33-28 lead at the half. Pfeiffer came out cold to start the second-half as Queens again hit big shot after big shot en route to the win.
Dyonna Battle led all scorers with 15 points on the night for Queens. Marissa Hudley, Cecilia Tchangoue and Shakaria Hamlin also finished with double-digits in the points column. Hudley finished with 14, while Tchangoue and Hamlim each finished with 12 and 10, respectively.
Jamila Harris led the Lady Falcons with 14 in the loss, followed by Domonique China’s 12 and Shelley Reese’s 11. Pfeiffer shot just 29% in the second half committing 20 turnovers.
The third and final game of the three-game road trip will conclude on Monday night at St. Andrews. The Lady Falcons will have the initial jump-ball at 5:30 p.m. against the Lady Knights.
