MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Sarah Waylock (1-1 overall, 0-0 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas softball Player of the Week during week number one in the 2010 season. Pfeiffer University junior transfer Sarah Waylock began her season nearly perfect going 5-for-7 (.714) in an opening pair of games at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational.
In a 4-3 upset win over nationally ranked No. 14 Kutztown, Waylock went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles that included a lead-off single in the bottom of the seventh, eventually leading to the game-winning run. In the nightcap at UNCP, Waylock was perfect at the plate with three singles in three at-bats with one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base. Waylock and the Lady Falcons will entertain Catawba and UNC-Pembroke at home this week before opening Conference Carolinas play on Saturday at Belmont Abbey.
