HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University’s Jeff Pettiway (15-8 overall, 11-6 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's basketball Player of the Week during week number twelve in the 2009-10 season. The junior guard put together another solid week leading the Falcons to a perfect 3-0 week in Conference Carolinas play, which included a school-record 146 points in a win over Barton.
Pettiway started his week with a game-high 31 against the Bulldogs knocking down seven of 12 from behind the arc and going 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. The junior also came up with four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Thursday at Erskine, Pettiway chipped in with 14 points three boards and five steals in a 78-70 come-from-behind win. Pfeiffer was down by 19 at the half, surging back for the eight point win.
Wrapping up the week Saturday at Belmont Abbey, Pettiway capped the 3-0 week with a team-high 26 points draining six more threes in a 104-89 win at the Abbey. For the week, Pettiway averaged just a hair under 24 points per game draining five threes per contest.
Pettiway and the Falcons get back to action on Saturday night, February 20th hosting St. Andrews at 7:30 p.m. inside the Merner Gym.
