MEN'S TENNIS FALLS 5-4 IN TIGHT CONFERENCE MATCH AT QUEENS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Ė Pfeiffer University dropped a 5-4 Conference Carolinas menís tennis decision on Tuesday afternoon at Queens and the Ovens Athletic Center. The Royals held a 2-1 advantage after doubles proving crucial as each side won three singles matches. Queens improves to 7-3 overall, 3-3 in league play while Pfeiffer falls to 6-5, 1-3.

The first point of the day came in the first doubles position as the Falcons duo of Philip Lawson/Johan de Wit took an 8-3 win over Christiann Lee-Daigle/Raahil Dhruva. The Royals quickly bounced back with 8-5 and 9-8 wins in the second and third matches for the team lead heading into singles.

All six singles matches were in straight sets as the hosts took the first two matches over the Falcons Andrea Cazzaro and Philip Lawson 6-1, 6-0 and 7-6, 6-4. Pfeiffer scored points in the two middle positions as de Wit scored a 7-5, 6-1 win over Dhruva while Sid Kaushik went five and two over Alex McKenzie. Ryan Kerr, playing #5 singles, put on Falcon point on the board with a 6-2, 6-4 victory but Christopher Kennedy in the sixth spot defeated Michael Worthington 6-4, 6-3 for the final Royals point.

Pfeiffer continues on the road with another Conference Carolinas match at Limestone on Wednesday. Match start is set for 2:00 p.m.
