LADY FALCON BASKETBALL PROGRAM ADDS GILROY AS NEW ASSISTANT COACH

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Jill Thomas, head coach of women’s basketball at Pfeiffer University, along with athletic director Bobby Stewart announce the hiring of Michael Gilroy as the new assistant coach joining the Lady Falcons basketball program.

Gilroy spent four years with the men’s basketball team at Georgetown University in the Nation’s capital from 1999-2003. Gilroy helped the Hoyas with all on-floor activities and game preparation, individual workouts and prepped all travel arrangements during the season. Georgetown went to the NIT’s championship game in 2004 and reached the NCAA tournament’s sweet 16 in 2002.

“I am extremely excited to welcome Mike to the Lady Falcons basketball program” said Thomas. “Mike comes from a great basketball background. His excitement in wanting to help Pfeiffer build a top-notch program, along with his knowledge in recruiting and player development, really matches what I was looking for in an assistant coach.”

Gilroy comes to Pfeiffer after spending quality time with AAU basketball programs in Virginia and coaching at George Mason High School in Falls Church, VA. Gilroy graduated from Georgetown in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.
