OLIVER SETS PACE AS MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY FINISH 6TH AT BULLDOG STAMPEDE

WINGATE, N.C. – Running in their first 8k race of the season, the Pfeiffer University men’s cross country team finished sixth, four points behind fifth, at the 2010 Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University on Saturday morning. Sophomore Will Oliver set the pace with just under a six minute mile clocking in with a total time of 29:41.

Freshman Greg Kielar finished second for the Falcons with a time of 30:54. Behind Kielar, Cody Jones crossed the line 23rd with a time of 31:23 while Cody Bivens concluded 31st with a time of 32 minutes even. Zach Gray and Zack Allen each finished inside the top 40 with times of 32:30 and 33:01 respectively. Nadjee Harrigan and Grady Gaston concluded Pfeiffer’s times with a finish of 38:45 and 40:28.

"Today was a tough race for our guys,” stated head coach Scott Nolt. “I think we were a little tired, facing a tough course and a hot day, we didn't perform the way we expected to.  We have a very young team with our top seven runners made up of six freshman and sophomores. We have to be patient. We are going to get better every race. We had a great turnout this morning from our fans and we appreciate everyone who came out to support us this morning."

The Falcons will next take part in the Hagan Stone Classic on Saturday, October 2nd in Greensboro, N.C.
