CHINA DROPS 19 ON LIVINGSTONE IN 73-58 LOSS TO BLUE BEARS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Pfeiffer University saw an 11-point first half lead quickly evaporate as Livingstone College roared back to take a 73-58 victory in non-conference women’s basketball action on Sunday afternoon. The victory for the Blue Bears evens their record to 1-1 on the year while the Lady Falcons fall to 1-3.

After Pfeiffer’s Brittany Cox drained a three with 6:30 remaining in the first half, Livingstone bolted out on a 13-0 run before a jumper by Kia Rice squared the contest at 31 with 91 seconds remaining. The Blue Bears tallied the next five points before the break for a 36-31 lead at recess. Runs of 9-2 and 12-2 in the second half led to Livingstone grabbing as much as a 20 point lead in the win.

Livingstone’s Rashida Elbourne poured in a career-high 29 points to lead the Blue Bears. Brittany Wright also chipped in with a 14-point, 13 rebound performance while teammate Montiya Harrison finished one board shy of a double-double adding 10 points. Pfeiffer’s Domonique China was the only Lady Falcons in double-figures contributing 19 points.

Pfeiffer will now put the four non-conference games in the rearview mirror getting ready for the 2010-2011 Conference Carolinas opener on Tuesday night. The Lady Falcons will travel to Erskine for the league opener tipping off at 5:30 p.m.
