BALTIMORE, M.D. – The Pfeiffer University men’s volleyball team put together a 2-1 weekend record at the Stevenson Invitational held just outside Baltimore on Friday and Saturday. The Falcons picked up a 3-0 (25-21, 25-12, 25-17) win on Friday over Hunter before sweeping host Stevenson 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-20) and falling to Philadelphia Biblical, ranked #8, 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 17-25, 19-25). Pfeiffer now stands at 8-4 on the year.
On Friday in the opener against Hunter, the Falcons hit .424 in the match including a .682 clip in set three. Drew Burdette led the way with a dozen kills hitting .526 in the sweep. Eric Edelman followed with 11 kills while Evan Fullerton dished out 28 assists. Libero Mark Hess popped up a team-high eight digs.
In the first Saturday match against host Stevenson, Pfeiffer again hit well at .314 led by Edelman’s 13 kills. Burdette followed closely with 12 kills while Fullerton added 39 more assists. Hess again led the way on defense with 15 more digs.
Wrapping up the weekend in the 3-1 loss to Philly Biblical, Edelman was the only Falcon with double-digit kills throwing down 13. Fullerton assisted 34 times in the loss while Hess added 15 digs with Edelman’s 10.
Pfeiffer will now take a week off before traveling to Lees-McRae for Conference Carolinas action next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
