WILSON, N.C. - Pfeiffer University improved 12 shots on their first round performance to finish seventh out of 16 teams at the 2011 Pizza Inn/Barton Incollegiate men's golf tournament on Tuesday. Host Barton won the team event with a two-day total of 585 led by medalist Dermot McElhennon's 135. Pfeiffer was led by Michael Blair who finished tied for 15th.
McElhennon back his Monday round of eight-under 64 with a one-under 71 on Tuesday to take home individual honors. The Bulldogs held off Mount Olive and Belmont Abbey in the top three. Five of the 16 teams shot a team score of 600 or lower.
Blair put together rounds of 77 and 73 to pace the Falcons at 150. Of the 10 total rounds play by members of Pfeiffer, eight of those rounds came in the 70's. Blair's final round 73 was the team's best for the event followed closely by Tyson Louth's Tuesday 74.
