BUCKLEY NETS CAREER-HIGH SIX GOALS AS MEN'S LACROSSE DOUBLES UP TARS 18-9

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Reserve midfielder Tom Buckley (Edmonton, Alberta) slammed home a game and career-high six goals as Pfeiffer University doubled up Rollins College 18-9 in non-conference men’s lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. The Falcons move to 9-3 overall with the win while the Tars drop their third-straight falling to 2-10.

Buckley started his day by scoring two of the first three goals on the afternoon at 12:18 and 7:10 of the first period. Kory Lutes (Orlando, FL) sandwiched one of his three strikes in between. Rollins got on the board six seconds after Buckley’s second goal as Peter Harvey (Princeton, NJ) won the faceoff and went the distance. After Nick Berkompas (Webster, NY) and Robert Hope (Peterborough, Ontario) went back-to-back, Nick Scannapieco (Lower Gwynedd, PA) registered his goal for the day at the 4:50 mark of the first. Justin Rose (Rochester, NY) and Buckley would each hit before the end of the quarter as would the Tars’ Harvey for a 7-3 Falcon lead through one.

Pfeiffer created separation for the rest of the afternoon by scoring seven-straight in the second while holding Rollins to just one. Tim Kleehammer (Rochester, NY) and Lutes would each tally a pair of second quarter goals for the Falcons while Berkompas, Buckley and Elliot Gilbert (Corning, NY) each added one. The first half ended with a goal from Rollins’ Austin Ricci (Winter Park, FL) who led the Tars with four on the day.

Ricci would hit first in the second half just 1:13 into the third while Buckley hit again just under three minutes later. A pair of man-up goals from Charlie Shelly (New York, NY) and Ricci would slice the Rollins deficit down to 15-7, but each team would trade goals in the final 30 seconds with Gilbert and Ricci scoring for their respective clubs.

Three fourth quarter goals on the backside of the frame would finish out scoring for the day as Berkompas notched his third with 2:52 remaining while Buckley registered his sixth at the 1:51 mark. Rollins’ Jackson Ryland (Woodbridge, VA) would conclude goal scoring with 28 ticks left.

Pfeiffer led the Tars 41-28 in shots while the visitors corralled 19 of the 32 face-offs. Turnovers were key for Rollins on Sunday as they committed 20 to Pfeiffer’s 14.

Anthony Lamarca (Sayville, NY) and Mike Triolo (Toronto, Ontario) each had five groundballs for Pfeiffer while Triolo and Zac Clark (Corning, NY) each had a pair of caused turnovers. Harvey led the Tars with a game-high 10 groundballs while Shelly forced six Falcon turnovers. Pfeiffer’s Hayden Kirk (Farmingdale, NY) earned the win in net stopping six first half shots. TJ Connors (Hampstead, MD) turned aside one shot in the second half.

Pfeiffer returns to action at home on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Falcons will host the number-one ranked team in the country and Conference Carolinas, Limestone, at N.E. Lefko Field. Live stats will be available through www.gofalconsports.com.
