TENNIS TEAMS HAVE ROUGH AFTERNOON AS WINGATE ROLLS IN BOTH COMPETITIONS

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Both of Pfeiffer University's men's and women's tennis teams dropped decisions to region-foe Wingate on Thursday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center. On the women's side, the Bulldogs grabbed a 7-2 win while the Wingate men rolled the Falcons 8-1. Wingate wins their season openers on both sides, the Lady Falcons even to 1-1 while the Falcon men drop to 1-2.

The lone Lady Falcon points came at number one doubles as Alena Krutkina and Cari Hopson notched a 9-8 (9-7) victory over Kelli Ferguson and Becca Thomas. Krutkina also snagged the only point in singles play defeating Ali Evers 7-5, 6-4. Wingate won in straight-sets in singles matches 2-6.

For the men, Ben Hunter and Sebastian Wernecke picked up the only point of the afternoon with an 8-3 win at #1 doubles. Wingate cruised the singles for the easy 8-1 win.
