Hello everyone! My name is Becca Walters, and I am the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Pfeiffer. As clever as it may appear to a select few, I am not the brilliant mind that came up with the name Coach “Dub”. Who would have known that a two syllable last name of Wal-ters was too much to pronounce? Therefore, Coach Dub was born.
This will be my first season here in the vivacious Village of Misenheimer. I traveled here from the plains of South Dakota where I enjoyed my cool, unsweltering weather, Wall-Drug billboards and covered wagons. (Just kidding people; those stopped being cool years ago.)
I made it out this way through my connections with Coach Thomas. We played college ball together and have remained close ever since. I always knew she would put her passion and knowledge of basketball to great use and share it with others through coaching. I am grateful to able to work for an old friend and teammate while combining our love and fervor for the sport in hopes of developing a successful team of women working towards similar goals.
Besides basketball, another passion of mine is writing. From my middle school yearbook to a WNBA draft blog, I have always found a way to incorporate a way to share my words in the work I am doing. I enjoy storytelling and using it as a way to be connected with people. So as I compose Coach Dub’s Dish, I do not have a strategy, timeline or outcome as I would in a playbook; I am merely looking to get a bit of creativity flowing in my noggin and am happy to share my sometimes interesting and enlightening (and perhaps non-interesting and unenlightening) thoughts.
Enjoy if you wish, a bit of Coach Dub’s Dish!
