CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For the second-straight game, junior Christina Harvey led Pfeiffer University with a team-high 21 points during a 73-64 victory over Livingstone College in women's basketball action at the Queen City Classic. Harvey also recorded a monster double-double with 13 rebounds helping the Lady Falcons improve to 2-3 overall.
Pfeiffer rebounded from a poor shooting Friday night to knock down 45% of their shots from the field during a 34-27 first half lead. The Lady Falcons struggled a bit in the final 20 minutes but held the Blue Bears to just 32% shooting on the day to score the nine point win.
Behind Harvey's 6-of-8 shooting and 9-of-11 from the free throw line, Brittany Cox drained 19 points while Shelley Reese followed with 11. The Lady Falcons held a 40-34 advantage in rebounds despite 27 turnovers.
Kelcyn Manurs paced Livingstone with 23 points while Cierra York added 13. Livingstone shot just 29% in the first half, barely improving in the second.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Tuesday for their final game before the Thanksgiving holiday heading to Mars Hill for a rematch with the Lady Lions. The Lady Falcons will try to score revenge against Mars Hill after a 32-point loss last weekend in the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational.
