MARS HILL, N.C. - Down three with 15:44 remaining in the second half, the Pfeiffer University women's basketball team raced out on a 15-0 run en route to a 75-68 victory over host Mars Hill in non-conference action on Tuesday night. Brittany Cox started the rally with a three-point contributing with eight of her 20 on the night in the run as the Lady Falcons improve to 3-3 on the season while the Lady Lions fall to 3-2.
A triple by Jodie Lemons and layup by Cox put Pfeiffer up 14 with their largest lead of the night just past the midway point of the second half. Mars Hill's Ansley Ricker fould cut the Lions deficit to four with 51 ticks left until Shelley Reese and Cox free throws iced the contest for the visitors.
Lemons finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds in 24 minutes to post a huge double-double. Cox led the Lady Falcons with her team-high 20 points. Pfeiffer connected on nine long distance shots in the seven point win.
Mars Hill was led by Ricker's game-high 24 while Armeka Booker registered her own double-double with 11 points and 10 boards in just 16 minutes of action.
Pfeiffer will now enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday weekend before returning to the hardwood on Tuesday night hosting Barber Scotia at 6:00 p.m.
