LADY FALCON SOFTBALL EXPERIENCES ALL TOO FAMILIAR FEELING IN PAIR OF LOSSES AT WINGATE

WINGATE, N.C. - For the fourth and fifth times in the last six road games, Pfeiffer University softball fell victim to walk-offs in the bottom of the seventh as Wingate University claimed a 1-0 and 3-2 sweep on Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs move to 14-6 on the year while the Lady Falcons drop to 3-11.

In the opener, Pfeiffer out-hit Wingate 7-2 but couldn't muster a run. The Bulldogs lone run came quickly in the seventh as a leadoff single, bunt and throwing error trying to get the force at second ending up in the outfield and a 1-0 win for Wingate. The Lady Falcons had bases-loaded one out in the first and bases-loaded nobody out in the fourth and couldn't score in either situation.

In game two, a one-out triple and following single led to Wingate breaking the 2-2 tie for a 3-2 victory. A sacrifice-fly by Mikaela Strickland put the Falcons on the board in the first while the Bulldogs used an RBI-single. An Ashlee Ellen RBI-double in the third put Pfeiffer up 2-1 before the Bulldogs squared in the fifth.

Pfeiffer gets back to action on Sunday playing Mars Hill at 1:00 p.m. in a neutral site contest at North Davidson High School in Lexington.
