ST. LEO SCORES FIVE UNANSWERED INCLUDING GAME-WINNER WITH EIGHT SECONDS LEFT TO KNOCK OFF MEN'S LACROSSE 8-7

ST. LEO, F.L. - George Proechel netted a game-high four goals including the game-winner with eight seconds remaining as St. Leo came back for an 8-7 victory over Pfeiffer University in men's lacrosse action on Saturday night. The Lions even to 3-3 while the Falcons fall to 4-3.

St. Leo trailed 7-3 just 14 seconds into the fourth quarter until Ray Ferrara started the hosts comeback with an assist to Kevin Hutchinson. Proechel would then score his second and third goals of the night to get St. Leo within one at 7-6 until Ferrara tied it with 74 seconds. Proechell would follow with his game-winner 66 seconds later.

Pfeiffer would grab a 3-0 lead earlier in the night with Luke Gillespie's first with 1:21 remaining in the second until Steven Tilmon and Robert Hope tallied back-to-back on the front and back sides of the second quarter. St. Leo would start their first comeback with goals from Chris Caiazza, man-up, while Proechel registered his first with 1:58 to play in the half as Pfeiffer carried a 3-2 lead into the intermission.

James Shepherd would start the Falcons scoring in the third followed by back-to-back strikes Justin Rose made it 6-2 visitors. Hutchinson would cut the deficit in half with 1:57 to play in the third until Tilmon's final goal to start the fourth.

St. Leo held the advantages in the major categories including shots (36-32), saves (12-9), groundballs (31-25) and faceoffs (12-of-19). The Falcons were a perfect 18-for-18 on clears and committed four fewer turnovers than the Lions.

Pfeiffer gets back to action on Monday traveling to Rollins for a 4:00 p.m. matchup with the Tars.
