CLERMONT, F.L. - Pfeiffer University won both games of a split doubleheader on Wednesday night at the NTC Spring Invitational. The Lady Falcons blanked Mercy 4-0 behind a complete game from Lindsey Russell while coming back to defeat West Chester 6-4 in the nightcap. Both wins push Pfeiffer to 11-17 overall heading into their final spring break game tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. in a rematch with Mercy.
Russell scattered nine hits in the complete game win getting out of jams every time. Julianna Bullington went 3-for-4 at the plate while Hannah Jackson collected a pair of hits in four plate appearances. Eight of the nine starters picked up at-least one hit in the win.
After West Chester took a 4-0 lead in the third frame, the Lady Falcons answered in the bottom of the fourth with five runs on six hits. Jackson, Bullington and Melanie Conklin each picked up RBI in the inning while Jackson added insurance with a RBI-single in the sixth. Jackson, Conklin and Celia Dew concluded game two 2-for-4 while seven of the nine starters registered a hit in game two. Conklin also picked up the win in the circle giving up the four runs on eight hits while striking out nine.
