MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Pfeiffer University head women’s soccer coach Elijah Denton has announced the addition of seven newcomers to join the Lady Falcons soccer program in the fall of 2012. Heather Black, Stephanie Hardig, Kimberly Olvera, Arianna Papaj, Mary Kathryn Pasour, Mandi Roan and Katlyn Stevens will all dawn the black and gold starting in August.

Black will join the Lady Falcons after completing her senior season at Sun Valley High School in Indian Trail. Black is a two-time all-conference performer being selected to the all-region team a year ago after being named defensive MVP. Black has played her club soccer with MUFC ’93 Navy and is also involved in the school’s FFA program.

Hardig, hailing from Statesville, is a multiple sport star that will help anchor the Lady Falcons back line in 2012. Hardig picked up Statesville High School’s Greyhound Award last year in soccer and was named defender of the year in 2010 for the Triad Elite Soccer Club. Hardig has also played for Twin City Soccer and lettered in basketball and cross country. The senior is involved off the field/court in Spanish Club, Senior Mentors, Venture Club, Girl Scouts and Young Life.

Olvera enters Pfeiffer as a four-year varsity starter at Rocky River High School in Charlotte. Olvera led the Ravens as a two-year captain on the field while involving herself in both the yearbook and newspaper staffs along with the Tru, Pep and Optimist Clubs. The midfielder has played her club soccer with MUFC ’93 White.

Papaj will join sister Brittany on defense coming in from St. Joseph High School in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. A three-sport star, Papaj has four years of varsity soccer, two years of varsity basketball and one year of varsity track all under her belt entering the Village. Her time in club soccer was spent with CFC Arsenal.

Pasour will begin her collegiate career after a successful campaign with Kings Mountain High School in Bessemer City. On the midfield, Pasour was an all-conference selection a year ago, two-year team captain and defensive MVP. Off the pitch, Pasour spent time with the Beta Club, National Honor Society and the band program among many others. 

Roan transfers into Pfeiffer from Butler Community College after playing at Birdville High School. From North Richland Hills, Texas, Roan has racked up awards as a two-year captain of the Lady Hawks. In both high school and college ball, Roan has been named twice to all-conference and all-region teams while succeeding in the classroom landing on the Dean’s Honor Roll and “Who’s Who” list among high school students. Roan played her club ball with DFW Tornado ’92.

Stevens rounds out the early list of newcomers from Milton, Georgia and Milton High School. Playing with Georgia’s ODP State Team, Stevens has also played with GSA ’94 ECNL. Off the field, Stevens involves herself with DECA and FCA.

The Lady Falcons are slated to begin the 2012 season with a pair of matches at Queens taking on Carson-Newman and Clayton State on August 31st and September 2nd.
