MISENHEIMER, N.C. – A pair of goals by sophomore Matt MacDougall (Richlands, NC) led visiting UNC-Pembroke to a 2-0 victory over Pfeiffer University in non-conference men’s soccer action on Monday afternoon. The victory pushes the Braves to 11-3-1 overall while the Falcons, who saw Cristian Padilla (Huntersville, NC) make a season-high 16 saves in net, drop to 0-14-2.
MacDougall’s first tally came in the 15th minute of play taking a tipped pass in front of the net and tapping it in for his fourth of the season. After the Braves carried that 1-0 lead into the break, MacDougall added insurance in the 64th minute with another tap in to the left after assists from Sam Miles (Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND) and Jeff MacDonald (Auburn, MA).
UNCP outshot Pfeiffer 31-6 overall as Kyle Toler (Charlotte, NC) took two of those six shots for the Falcons. Padilla would make a half-dozen stops in the first half and add 10 in the latter 45 minutes of play.
Pfeiffer will now look forward to their final home game of 2012 hosting Catawba on Wednesday afternoon. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m. with live stats being available courtesy of http://www.gofalconsports.com.
