ASHEBORO, N.C. - A six-run fourth inning opened up a 2-0 ballgame as #6 Catawba College scored a 10-2 victory over Pfeiffer University in non-conference baseball action on Sunday afternoon. The Indians improve to 8-0 on the season while the Falcons drop to 0-7.
A Paul Kronenfeld RBI-single and Garrett Furr groundball that resulted in a Pfeiffer error led to a pair of runs in the bottom of the first for Catawba. The six-run fourth saw Keaton Hawks belt a three-run homer while Furr struck again with a two-run double. Pfeiffer's pair of runs came in the sixth as a Matt Wade walk would allow for Cole McGraw to belt a two-run homer to right-center. Catawba would add two more in their sixth for insurance.
Kronenfeld for lead the Indians at the plate going 3-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored. Wade would collect two of the Falcons hits in the loss. Cameron Cockman would toss seven innings to get the win allowing the two runs on six hits to move to 2-0 on the year.
Pfeiffer returns to Joe Ferebee Field on Tuesday afternoon hosting Brevard at 2:00 p.m.
