NEWBERRY, S.C. - Sarah Daly scored a game-high four goals as one of five players with multi-goal games as Pfeiffer University rolled through Newberry College 18-1 in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Falcons win their 2013 season opener while the Wolves drop to 0-2.
Daly wasted little time in getting the season started off on the right foot with a goal just 1:33 and 3:50 into the match. Kristina Anderson would scored all three of her goals over a 15-minute stretch midway through the first half while Kristi Korn scored two of her three in the first 30 minutes. Shannon Bonnel would open up second half scoring while Daly added her third and fourth before Korn tallied her third within the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Katherine Athens picked up five groundballs and caused four turnovers in the win while Ashleigh Kassab picked up a game-high six draw controls. Rachel McCarthy picked up the win in net stopping two shots fired by Newberry.
The Lady Falcons will open up the home portion of their schedule with a five-game homestand starting on Wednesday against Converse. Wednesday will also mark the 2013 Conference Carolinas opener for the Lady Falcons with the first draw scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
