NEWBERRY, S.C. - Despite a 3-for-4 day at the plate by Jon Gray, Pfeiffer University fell to host Newberry College 6-2 in non-conference baseball action on a chilly Tuesday afternoon. The Wolves move to 7-5 on the year while the Falcons drop to 1-9.
After Newberry used a two-run homer in the first and sacrifice fly in the third, all by Ryan Cranmer, Pfeiffer got on the board with two in the fourth to make it a 3-2 game. Kevin Price would leadoff with a double to left-center and later score on a wild pitch for Pfeiffer's first run of the day. Gray would follow with his first hit of the day blasting a solo shot down the left-field line slicing the deficit down to one. Newberry would add insurance in the fifth and seventh inning's to secure the four-run victory.
Wesley Camp also went 3-for-4 to lead Newberry behind Cranmer's 2-for-3 with four RBI. In addition to Gray, Price went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Newberry would out-hit Pfeiffer 9-6 in the win.
Pfeiffer gets back to action on Thursday playing in a newly-added contest with the recent weekend snow. The Falcons will travel down south to take on division one's Charlotte 49ers at 4:00 p.m.
