HARTSVILLE, S.C. - A Priscilla Fenty three-pointer with 1:25 left in the second-half proved to be the game-winner as host Coker College upset Pfeiffer University 68-66 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action on Wednesday night. The Cobras improve to 15-10 overall, 11-8 in league play while the Falcons fall to 19-5, 14-5.
Coker had the lead for a majority of the contest on Wednesday as things got interesting over the final five minutes. Trailing 58-57 with 4:17 remaining, Pfeiffer's Christina Harvey converted a three-point play to give the Lady Falcons a two-point, 60-58 lead. After a three from Coker's Angie Lawrence put the Cobras back up one, Jodie Lemons would toss in a layup to give Pfeiffer a 62-61 advantage with 3:32 to play.
Another Lawrence triple would give Coker the lead for good with 3:05 left in the second as the Lady Falcons cut the lead back to one on a pair of Kellie Rhoney free throws with 1:50 remaining. Just 25 seconds later, Fenty would hit the crucial three to help Coker deliver its final dagger of the night.
Autumn Lau led the Cobras and all scorers on the night with 20 points while Lawrence followed with 15. Lemons led the Falcons with 19 points while Harvey posted another double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Harvey, the newest member of Pfeiffer's 1,000-point club, climbed into 12th all-time after her 18 at Coker. Coker shot nearly 50% from the field while limiting the Lady Falcons to 33%. The Cobras would benefit from six blocks and eight steals aiding in the win.
