HUMPHREY'S HITS GAME-WINNER AT THE BUZZER; MEN'S BASKETBALL SHOOTS DOWN TWO SCHOOL-RECORDS IN 64-62 WIN AT COKER

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Senior Josh Humphrey hit a baseline jumper with just under a second remaining as Pfeiffer University snapped a 12-game skid with a 64-62 victory at Coker in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action on Wednesday night. The Falcons move to 4-21 on the year, 2-16 in league play with the win. The Cobras fall to 12-11, 9-8 after the loss.

Humphrey's game-winning shot was setup after Coker's Andrew Morris drained a long-distance three with 11 seconds left to tie the game at 62-62. As Pfeiffer in-bounded, Humphrey received the ball on the right side of the court before dribbling in and popping the game-winner.

Tied 56-56 with 3:10 remaining in regulations, a Humphrey layup put the Falcons back up two before a Morris three pushed the Cobras back up one 59-58. Humphrey again took over with a jumper at the 2:16 mark before putting in his final two of 31 points on the night to give Pfeiffer its two-point victory.

Pfeiffer would lead nearly the entire game as the largest first half lead came with 1:22 remaining before the break as Humphrey drained a three for a 27-17 lead. Coker would use a pair of Sharod Williams free throws and a three from Julian Nelson to cut the lead down to five at the break.

Coker's largest second half lead would be three on two different occasions as a Morris three and layup would provide those advantages. The biggest second half lead came with 6:13 remaining as Joe Ledbetter dropped in a layup to give the visitors a 51-45 advantage.

Humphrey was the only Falcon in double-digits with his 31 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field, hitting five of his six three attempts and both free throw attempts. As a team, Pfeiffer shot a school-record 61% in the win after an incredible 77% in the second half. The Falcons also set a new mark for field goal percentage in a half after hitting 17-of-22 attempts in the final 20 minutes.

Pfeiffer will get back to action next Tuesday traveling to Mount Olive in the final road game of the 2012-2013 season. Tip off with the Trojans is set for 7:30 p.m. with live stats/video available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
