SOFTBALL USES GAME TWO WALK-OFF TO SPLIT TUESDAY'S EXTRA-INNING DH WITH LOCK HAVEN

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer University and visiting Lock Haven University traded a pair of extra-inning victories on Tuesday afternoon as the Lady Eagles took a 2-1 decision in the opener while the Lady Falcons tallied a 5-4 victory in the nightcap. At the end of the day, Pfeiffer moves to 11-15 overall while Lock Haven slides to 10-3.

In game one, Hannah Jackson would score the Lady Falcons only run in the bottom of the first coming in on an outfield throwing error. Jackson reached on a fielder's choice, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on the throwing error. Kaitlyn Mullins would pick up the game-tying RBI in the top of the second as neither team would score again over the final 5.5 innings of regulation. In the eighth, Chelsea Edwards would make her walk payoff after Taylor Magee slapped a two-out single to right. Magee would be thrown out at second trying to take the extra base ending the inning.

Game two saw the Lady Eagles tally a run in the opening frame before Pfeiffer tacked on two in the fourth grabbing a one-run lead. Sadie Saine and Jackson would begin with back-to-back base hits before both taking off to steal second and third. On the throw to third on Saine's stolen base attempt, the ball would end up in left field as Saine scored the game-tying run while also pushing Jackson to third. Lindsey Russell would pick up the RBI later in the frame with a groundout to short to plate Jackson.

Down to their final outs in the seventh, Lock Haven would use a two-run homer by Edwards to keep the game alive once again forcing extra-innings. After the Lady Eagles stranded their runner at second using the international tiebreaker, a sacrifice bunt by Celia Dew and groundball fielder's choice by Saine brought home Khristin Isley with the game-winning run. Pfeiffer would take advantage of four Lock Haven errors to pick up the game two win.

Pfeiffer gets back to action on Saturday hosting North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action at 2:00 p.m.
