Patrick King led the way for the men’s squad with a perfect 4.0 for the semester, boosting his cumulative grade point average to 3.97. Dustin Brannam added a grade point average of 3.75 and 10 members of the team recorded at least a 3.2.
The women’s team earned a cumulative 3.30 GPA and was one of three teams in Conference Carolinas that was represented. The score tied Pfeiffer with Florida Institute of Technology, Hillsdale College and Indiana University of PA. Vera DeFusco, Morgan Dionne and Ekaterina Galichenko each posted perfect 4.0 scores and seven members of the team had at least a 3.7 grade point average.
Head Coach Eric Anderson made academics a priority when he took over six years ago, and is proud to receive these awards.
“We have really concentrated on academics with our kids,” said Anderson. “With the use of study tables, academic meetings, our learning center and constant reminders of how important academics are, we have elevated our GPA to national levels. I can’t tell you how impressed and proud I am of my swimmers.”
The CSCAA presents the Team Scholar All-American award to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
