Pfeiffer University head men’s soccer coach Bob Reasso has named Niko Andrade and Chandler Ligas as the program’s captains for the 2013 season.
The duo are rising juniors and have a lot of similarities. The veteran leaders are both midfielders and each hail from Georgia. Andrade and Ligas have combined for 69 starts over the past two seasons and are battle tested in Conference Carolinas play.
Reasso, who had a 29-year stint as the head coach at Rutgers University, returns to Pfeiffer where he was elected to the Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. Reasso was a standout for the Falcons, being named an All-Conference and All-District athlete on top of earning the team’s most valuable player award in 1973.
“I am very lucky to inherit such wonderful leaders,” said Reasso. “Not only do we have great captains, we have great leadership throughout the program.”
The Falcons kick off the regular season on Sept. 5 when they travel to USC-Aiken for a 7:30 match. Pfeiffer’s home slate kicks off on Sept. 8 when they host Lenoir-Rhyne at 2 p.m. Conference play begins for the Falcons on Sept. 21 with a trip to Bristol, TN to take on King at 4 p.m. Six of Pfeiffer’s final seven games will be played at home on N.E. Lefko Field.
