WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ADDS SOUTHERN CAL. TRANSFER TO FRONTCOURT

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer University women’s basketball team welcomes junior Lauren White to the program. White, who transferred from USC, follows in her father footsteps at Pfeiffer.  Darryl White ’85 was a four-year member of the Pfeiffer men’s basketball team.

White was ranked the No. 61 center in the nation coming out of Hickory Grove Baptist Christian High School in Charlotte, N.C.  and was a nominee for McDonald’s All-America honors. White was a three-time all-state selection and five-time all-conference honoree. White was named all-Mecklenberg by the Charlotte Observer and a three-time weekly Super Team selection. She finished her high school career as the school’s all-time leader among boys and girls in scoring, rebounding, blocks and triple-doubles.

She spent one season as a member of the USC practice squad before joining the Falcons. White also won three state championships playing club with NC Flight. Her 6-4 frame will be a welcome addition to Head Coach Roy Dow’s program.

“The addition of Lauren White signals the high caliber of player we expect to attract to Pfeiffer,” said Dow. “As a Pac-12 transfer, we believe we that Lauren will be a force on both ends of the court. Furthermore, the ability of her family to be able to see her play at her father’s alma mater is another very special piece to this experience.”

The Lady Falcons finished the 2012-13 season with an overall record of 25-7, including a 17-5 Conference Carolinas mark. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament and defeated Anderson 84-78 in the opening round before falling to Limestone in the Second Round.
