SUMTER, SC The Pfeiffer mens team competed in the Conference Carolinas Fall Tournament hosted by the Palmetto Tennis Center and performed well. A host of Falcons advanced deep into the competition.
In A singles competition, Loic Minery won his first three matches in straight sets, advancing to the finals as the #1 seed before falling to Matt Finnerty in the finals, 6-3; 6-3. On the consolation side of A competition, Sebastian Wernecke advanced to the finals by defeating teammate Axel Woerner. Zach Huffman performed well in C singles and advanced to the finals before dropping the match to Stefano Soares of Limestone.
In doubles action, Wernecke and Bret Williams won two matches in the B bracket and advanced to the semifinals. The team would be defeated by the top-seeded pair of Stanley Roffe and Brahm Moolman from Mount Olive. Pfeiffer sent two teams to the C doubles finals, as Huffman and Stephen Miller advanced to take on the team of Orlando Castillo and Jimmy Molina with the latter winning the flight, 8-2.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, Sept. 20 when they kick off the regular season with a trip to Queens at 2 p.m.
