MISENHEIMER, N.C. Ė As the fall season begins to wind down, seven different teams are in action in what will be a big weekend for Pfeiffer athletics. All teams are on the road, so be sure to go to gofalconsports.com and follow us on twitter @PfeifferSports for the most up to date information.
The menís and womenís cross country teams kick off the weekend at 4:00 p.m. on Friday when they travel to Harrisburg, N.C. and compete in the Conference Carolinas Meet at Frank Liske Park. Both the menís and womenís teams have had strong seasons to date, and are looking to improve their finish from a season ago where they placed seventh and eighth respectively.
The womenís volleyball team also has a big conference weekend with two road matches. On Friday night, the Lady Falcons travel to North Greenville for a 7 p.m. match against the Crusaders. Following that contest, Pfeiffer will travel to Erskine for a match at noon.
On Saturday, the Pfeiffer swimming team travels to Converse to take on the host Valkyries as well as Lenoir-Rhyne. Pfeiffer opened the season in impressive fashion, breaking eight school records in their first meet of the season. Most recently, the men took home second and the women placed third at the Carolinas Meet. This will be each teamís third meet of the season.
Pfeiffer soccer will have a doubleheader at Erskine on Saturday, with the women starting at 2 p.m. and then men following as they both wrap up regular season conference play. The women currently sit in third place, Ĺ a game in front of Barton as the top four teams in the standings host a first round conference tournament match.
The menís match will be a daunting battle for the Falcons, as Erskine currently sits 5-0 in conference play and are battling with Limestone for first place in the standings. Pfeiffer is looking to clinch a spot in the conference tournament and are currently tied for sixth place, with the top eight advancing.
