MISENHEIMER, NC - On Senior Night, the Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (8-21, 5-12 CC) suffered a tough loss to Converse (7-23, 6-11) by a final score of 3-1. The loss is damaging to the Falcons Conference Tournament hopes, as now they face a must win tomorrow against Limestone to qualify as the No. 8 seed.
Prior to the match, a ceremony recognizing the hard work and dedication of seniors Jill Maykut, Anna Vizvary and Milana Mervosh took place.
Brianna Jones finished with a match-high 15 kills but Pfeiffer's offensive attack featured 33 errors and a .122 team hitting percentage. Converse had eight less kills on the match, but only committed 12 attack errors and hit .297 as a team.
Kelly Lancellot and Kelsey Blauser finished with nine and eight kills respectively for Pfeiffer. Emily Wall handed out 19 assists and tacked on two service aces. Lauren Carman lead the team with nine digs and also had 19 assists on the evening.
The Valkyries were led by 12 kills from Katie Butler and 11 from Ashley Biggs. Converse won by scores of 25-19, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-17. The win secures the No. 7 seed in the Conference Tournament for Converse.
Pfeiffer returns to action tomorrow at noon against Limestone in their regular season finale. The match will serve as the team's cancer awareness match with Head Coach Paul Lawson addressing the crowd before the contest about his personal cancer story.
