SALISBURY, NC - Dmitry Kozlov and Valentin Kaufmann broke school records as the men's and women's swimming teams competed against Catawba on Saturday morning. The men emerged victorious over the Indians, while the women were defeated. Kozlov broke the school record in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:53.77, shaving 14 seconds off his seed time. Kaufmann set the new record in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 1:53.15.
The men dominated the meet, winning seven different events. Dima Turkin took home the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.88 and also paced the Falcons in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.28. Kozlov picked up his second win of the event in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing six seconds ahead of the second place finisher, in a time of 4:49.23. Pfeiffer also won the 400-yard freestyle relay as the team of Kaufmann, Kozlov, Michael Dilks and Ethan Garrison posted a time of 3:13.15.
The women struggled to keep up with the Indians, winning a single event. Ekaterina Galichenko secured the victory in the 200-yard freestyle as she won the event with a time of 2:03.08.
The Falcons return to action on Nov. 22 as they travel to Charlotte, NC to compete in the Wingate Invitational
