MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Pfeiffer women’s lacrosse team has released its 2014 schedule as the Falcons look to make a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Last year’s team finished the season 14-3 and earned an at-large bid to the National Tournament. Pfeiffer ran off 12 straight wins to start the season, but fell to Limestone 11-7. The Saints also knocked Pfeiffer out of the NCAA Tournament in the Quarterfinal round in May.
Head Coach Dawn Easley is primed to become Pfeiffer’s all-time leader in wins this season, as she currently sits seven wins shy of the record. The Pfeiffer grad has a 58-31 career record and has a 29-9 mark in Conference Carolinas play and has led the Falcons to a winning record every season she has been at the helm.
Pfeiffer will take on five top-15 teams this season, including Dowling, Limestone and Rollins. Pfeiffer will also be traveling to Maryland to take on New Haven and Bloomsburg in Annapolis.
The season gets underway on Feb. 15 as the Falcons host Rollins at noon. Conference play kicks off on Feb. 22 when Pfeiffer travels to Converse for another noon contest.
After that tilt with the Valkyries, Pfeiffer has seven of their next nine games at home. The team will have April 12th circled on their calendar, as they travel to Limestone to avenge last year’s losses.
“Our goal every year is to win the conference,” said Easley. “We will look to continue to improve on last year’s performance and get better every day.”
