MISENHEIMER, NC - A triple-double from Mount Olive's (13-7, 7-3 CC) Dory Hines propelled the Trojans to an 86-65 victory over the Pfeiffer men's basketball team (5-16, 2-9). Hines finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the contest. Pfeiffer was led by Andrew Guerrero who finished with 14 points and hit 8-of-10 free throws. Charlie Wagoner added 10 points for Pfeiffer who were held to 37.7 percent shooting.
10 different Trojans scored and five players were in double figures. Dontrell Brite led the way with 14 points and Dominique Reed added 12. Hines, Jordan McCain and John Wieland each recorded 11 points for the visitors.
Mount Olive shot 55 percent from the field, including a shooting at a 61.3 percent clip in the first 20 minutes. Conversely, Pfeiffer was held to 27.8 percent shooting in the first half as Mount Olive went into the break with a 46-30 advantage.
The Trojans hit 55.6 percent from long range, going 10-for-18, while Pfeiffer answered with eight made threes on 20 attempts (40 percent).
Mount Olive led in rebounds by a 40-31 margin. Each team protected the ball, turning it over just nine times apiece.
Freshman Mike Smith was held to nine points in the loss, the first time all season that he scored less than 15 points.
Pfeiffer looks to get back on track on Saturday as they host Belmont Abbey at 7:30 p.m.
