| Banner Elk, NC---The #13 Pfeiffer Falcons(12-2, 6-1) defeated Lees-McRae(3-9, 2-5) 110-98 in CVAC men's basketball action Monday night. Five Falcons scored in double figures led by Logan Call's 20 points. Pfeiffer outscored the Bobcats by 21 from the free throw line for difference in the game. Lees-McRae came out determined not to let CVAC leading scorer DeMario Grier (27.9 ppg) beat them. With the Bobcats defense focused on Grier other Falcon players stepped up. Lees built up an early 10-4 lead but the Falcons went on a 10-2 run to capture the lead. The game was fairly even throughout the half but a late 6-1 run gave the Falcons a 51-45 halftime advantage. Logan Call led Pfeiffer with 12 points in the first half. Robert McGriff added 10. Pfeiffer scored the first four points of the second half to stretch their lead to ten. Cortland Thomas scored 12 points in the first seven minutes of the second half as Pfeiffer extended their lead to 14 at 70-56. By the ten minute mark Pfeiffer had stretched their lead to 21, 86-65. Lees slowly cut into the Pfeiffer lead until it was down to seven 100-93, with 3:29 left. Pfeiffer hit their free throws down the stretch to win 110-98. Call led Pfeiffer with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Cortland Thomas added 19 points and Robert McGriff contributed 18. Tavares Cooper chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds while DeMario Grier added 10 points and seven steals. Pfeiffer returns to action Thursday when they travel to Anderson. Tip-off is 5:30 pm.
