MEN'S TENNIS CRUISES PAST WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN; CONTINUE UNBEATEN STREAK AT HOME

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - On Tuesday afternoon, beneath a beautiful Carolina sky, the Pfeiffer University men's tennis team played host to a team currently ranked second in their region, the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats.  Clearly unphased by the ranking, and the fact that the Bobcats made it as far as the Sweet 16 last season, the Falcons fiercely defended their home court, defeating their opponents 7-2.  The win improves Pfeiffer to 6-2 on the season and with the loss the Bobcats fall to 4-3-1.

In singles play Pfeiffer finished with a 4-2 margin over the visitors, picking up wins from sophomore Loic Minery, juniors Stephen Miller and Sebastian Wernecke, and senior Bret Williams.  With the wins Minery improves to 7-1 on the season and Miller and Wernecke both improve to 6-2.

The Falcons dominated in doubles play, sweeping all three matches in convincing fashion.  With their win, the duo of Minery and Wernecke improve to 6-1 on the season.  Also with doubles wins for the Falcons were Miller and Williams who stretched their unbeaten streak to three, and the team of junior Orlando Castillo and freshman Axel Woerner who improve to 2-0 on the season.

Pfeiffer returns to action on March 13th when they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne for a 2:00 p.m. match time.
