FRESHMAN SWIMMER DIMA TURKIN BECOMES ALL-AMERICAN

GENEVA, OH – Pfeiffer freshman swimmer Dima Turkin became an All-American in two different events at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Turkin swam in the 100-yard butterfly and finished the in 13th place, assuring him All-American status. The freshman also earned All-American accolades in the 100-yard backstroke.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Turkin fell just outside of the top 10, in 13th position. Turkin swam the event in a time of 48.98 and posted the fifth best time of any freshman in the nation. In the preliminaries, Turkin's time of 49.24 seconds placed him 15th. He shaved .26 seconds off his time in the finals and moved up the leaderboards.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Turkin had his best finish of the competition, placing 10th. In the finals, Turkin raced out to a quick start and touched at the 48.43 mark, just over one second behind the first place finisher. Turkin was the third fastest freshman in the field and topped his qualifing time of 49.04.

Turkin also finished 54th in the nation in the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries, finishing in a strong time of 21:15.
