MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Under a cloudless Carolina blue sky, the Pfeiffer men's tennis team picked up their first conference win in convincing fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating Lees-McRae 8-1. With the victory the Falcons improve their overall season record to 8-2, their Conference Carolinas' record to 1-1, and their current win streak to four matches. Lees-McRae falls to 3-6 on the loss and 0-2 in conference play.
The Falcons breezed through singles play, only surrendering one match to the visitors to finish 5-1. Singles victories were secured by sophomore Loic Minery, freshman Axel Woerner, juniors Sebastian Wernecke and Stephen Miller, as well as senior Bret Williams. With the singles victories, Minery improves to 9-1 on the season and has won four straight while Miller improves to 8-2, extending his win-streak to six.
Doubles play was all Pfeiffer, with all home team pairings picking up wins. Falcon duos of Minery and Wernecke, Miller and Williams, and junior Orlando Castillo and Woerner each secured wins for their squad. Minery and Wernecke improve to 8-1 in doubles play for the season and extend their win streak to six doubles matches.
The Falcons return to action on March 19th when they welcome conference rival King to Misenheimer. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m.
