WILSON, N.C. – The Southeast Region's No. 10 Pfeiffer women’s tennis (12-0, 4-0 CC) ran their winning streak to 12 games with a 7-2 victory over Barton (8-5, 2-3 CC) on Saturday afternoon.
Pfeiffer came out with a 3-0 lead following their dominant performance in doubles competition. The duo of Taylor Lindsay and Valeria Mendoza as well as Olivia Nelms and Hannah Watson defeated their opponents by a score of 8-2 respectively in the number one and number two spot. Mylene Petitpas and Amanda Long completed doubles play with an 8-3 win in the number three position.
Pfeiffer took the first two games in singles play as Nelms competed in the number one spot winning 6-4, 6-3. Lindsay clinched the match from the number two position as she won in three sets 7-5, 5-7, and 6-2.
Mendoza won in two sets in the number three spot with scores of 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
The Falcons final win game in the number six position as Briana Oliver won in straight sets by scores of 6-1 in each set.
Barton claimed their two points in the number four and five position.
Pfeiffer returns to action Monday, March 24 as they play host to Limestone at 2:30 p.m. at Knapp Tennis Center.
